Medicine is an indispensable product that improves our quality of life, allowing us to prevent, diagnose, treat or cure disease. However, failing to use medicines in a responsible way could have negative consequences on our health. Here are some recommendations for using medicines correctly:

  • Consume them rationally.
  • It is advisable to keep medicine in its original package with its leaflet. That way you can check the expiry date and the appropriate dose of medicine to be administered at any time. It will also allow you to identify the product correctly in case of accidental ingestion or adverse reactions.
  • Always follow your doctor or pharmacist’s advice on how to use a medicine, especially as regards the dosage, frequency and duration of treatment.envase_prospecto
  • Medicines should be stored appropriately, depending on their nature and on the recommendations concerning storage.
  • Check the contents of your medicine cabinet on a regular basis – every 6 or 12 months – verifying expiry dates and state of conservation of the elements and the medicines that make it up, and replacing any used or leftover products.
  • It is very important to follow the prescribed treatment of a medicine. If any doses are left over when you complete your treatment, do not keep them in your home medicine cabinet. Take expired medicines or leftover doses, with their box and leaflet, to the Punto SIGRE located in pharmacies.
